Summary

Catalina only made her deal with the demon because she had nowhere else to go。 The world has kicked her every chance it got, so she’s all too happy to leave the realm she knows behind。 What’s the worst that could happen?

She doesn’t anticipate being auctioned away to a kraken。

Thane is cold and distant…but he’s not unkind。 Isolated as they are, Catalina finds herself seeking his company again and again。 And when she finally agrees to uphold her portion of the bargain?

That’s when things get really interesting。

But she only gave the demon seven years, and when the time is up, she’ll have no choice but to leave behind the kraken who’s stolen her heart and return to the world that doesn’t want her。

4 ⭐️ okay how stinking cute!!! these are simple romances with some spice, but I love it all the same。 the banter between the characters, the connection, I just love it & can’t stop myself from binging。

A short but spicy monster romance novella。 The characters didn't do it for me like some of the others in this series have。 A short but spicy monster romance novella。 The characters didn't do it for me like some of the others in this series have。 。。。more

4。5 stars Really enjoyed this, just wish it was longer! And it just doesn’t feel like a 5 star。 Great overall though! I loved the diversity as well。

I have started and restarted this review and there’s was just nothing about this book that really makes it better than just okay。 This style of book isn’t my thing but I’m a psychopath that once I start something I need to finished it。

This was exactly what I expected it to be, neither groundbreaking nor disappointing。 Sexy and full of diverse characters but without a ton of emotional excavation from our characters。 It suffers from what I feel most of Katee's shorter works suffer from, which is that it has to stay more surface level, even when the characters have big feelings and traumas to unpack。 They aren't brushed aside, but they also don't get the treatment that would give a satisfying gut punch for me。 That said, it was This was exactly what I expected it to be, neither groundbreaking nor disappointing。 Sexy and full of diverse characters but without a ton of emotional excavation from our characters。 It suffers from what I feel most of Katee's shorter works suffer from, which is that it has to stay more surface level, even when the characters have big feelings and traumas to unpack。 They aren't brushed aside, but they also don't get the treatment that would give a satisfying gut punch for me。 That said, it was an enjoyable, short read with plenty of tentacle action。 。。。more

My only complaint is that I wanted there to be more scenes with the ah…tentacles。 But hey, if it’s you’re thing like it is mine, you’ll love this book, and you’ll adore Katee Roberts even more。 This world is really fun, and I like that with each book in the universe you get fun snippets of the lore and the people within it。 A very fun read, albeit a bit short。

Tentacles! This was a fun monster romp but wished it was a bit longer。 It didn't show as much character development given the length (understandable)。 I love Katee's world building for this series。 Tentacles! 2。5 Stars / 5 StarsMy least favorite of the three Kate’s Roberts’ books I’ve read thus far。 I don’t know, I just didn’t buy the relationship between Catalina and Thane, it felt like it switched almost instantly from hatred or indifference to love almost overnight。 The smut wasn’t bad, but it was also a little too weird for me I think。 I also feel like both Thane and Catalina had some serious issues, and absolutely none of them were resolved or dealt with。 They probably could’ve been, had the boo 2。5 Stars / 5 StarsMy least favorite of the three Kate’s Roberts’ books I’ve read thus far。 I don’t know, I just didn’t buy the relationship between Catalina and Thane, it felt like it switched almost instantly from hatred or indifference to love almost overnight。 The smut wasn’t bad, but it was also a little too weird for me I think。 I also feel like both Thane and Catalina had some serious issues, and absolutely none of them were resolved or dealt with。 They probably could’ve been, had the book been about a hundred pages longer and took its time in working out those issues instead of rushing past them and using them as a plot device when necessary, but c’est la vie I guess。 They basically had one conversation and decided they were healed from essentially a lifetime of traumas, like, no?? That’s not how that works?? Also the last chapter was weird and unnecessary, as all the other reviews have also stated。 Idk。 This one just didn’t click for me unfortunately。 。。。more

The MFC was HARD TO READ。 I'm not a fan of a self deprecating main character。 I'm glad I read the tropes and trigger warnings or I would have DNR'd this one for it。 It was just hard to get past her inner voice at times。 Other than that, I like the spice and I like the tropes。 Dragon's Bride was better as I felt they had some real growth and it felt more natural between them。 The MFC was HARD TO READ。 I'm not a fan of a self deprecating main character。 I'm glad I read the tropes and trigger warnings or I would have DNR'd this one for it。 It was just hard to get past her inner voice at times。 Other than that, I like the spice and I like the tropes。 Dragon's Bride was better as I felt they had some real growth and it felt more natural between them。 。。。more

Does what it promises to do。 Tore through it faster than a usual read。 For a relatively short narrative, there was a pretty satisfying arc。

Because I am obsessed with the stories of Katee Robert, I just finished The Kraken’s Sacrifice, book 2 in A Deal with a Demon Series。 The story takes place shortly after Catalina makes a deal with a bargainer demon。 In exchange for more money and popularity than she would know what to do with, she has to spend seven years in the demon realm。 What she doesn’t anticipate is being auctioned away to a cold and distant kraken。 That’s when things get really interesting。 Truthfully, this wasn’t my favo Because I am obsessed with the stories of Katee Robert, I just finished The Kraken’s Sacrifice, book 2 in A Deal with a Demon Series。 The story takes place shortly after Catalina makes a deal with a bargainer demon。 In exchange for more money and popularity than she would know what to do with, she has to spend seven years in the demon realm。 What she doesn’t anticipate is being auctioned away to a cold and distant kraken。 That’s when things get really interesting。 Truthfully, this wasn’t my favorite book in the series but that is the beauty of series in which every book is a different character; there is something for everyone。 What I loved: 🐠 The duel perspective between Catalina and Thane。 I love learning what is going through the thoughts of other characters especially during bouts of disagreements and sexual tension。 🐠 The prehensile anatomy part…if you know you know 🐠 How the author handled the characters dealing with an unwanted pregnancy。 While many might not agree with the methods, I was happy that Catalina wasn’t forced to carry an unwanted pregnancy and more so wasn’t insulted or degraded for not being ready for motherhood🐠 The overlap with other characters in the same world。 I absolutely love Ramanu and Azazel。 The Demon’s Bargain (Ramanu’s story) is what got me hooked in A Deal with a Demon Series and I cannot wait to read Azazel’s story。 What I didn’t love: 🐡 The constant guilt trips by both Catalina and Thane。 While I understand it is important to learn about their past traumas and how they are healing from it, I didn’t feel that there was enough pages in the story to fully show the character development。 The author spent a lot of time building the backstory of the trauma and their struggle overcoming it but it felt that the healing was rushed towards the end of the story🐡 Not enough spicy scenes and certainly not enough scenes dealing with the prehensile parts。 I think this goes back to my above comment。 This story isn’t long enoughFavorite quote: “She’s foiled three of my strategies this time alone, and at least two of those were intentional” Favorite spicy quote: “’I might get eaten。’ His grin is quick and devastating。 ‘Only if you’re very, very good。’” Star rating: ⭐⭐⭐。5 Spicy rating: 🌶🌶🌶 (sexual tension; spicy scenes halfway through) 。。。more

Very much not my usual。 The relationship was sweet but the ending was very abrupt, needed much more of an epilogue。 Will I read more in the series? Absolutely。

Too much was happening in this short book to really flesh out the details。 Just felt rushed and unfinished And the smut was very lack lustre and not what you would expect from the Queen of Smut

Yep, definitely still weird。 These characters at least had a little more depth it felt like, though, than the characters in the first one。

This is a quick read and doesn’t allow for the characters to evolve in a realistic way, but it still worked for me because there was a lot of internal dialogue that allowed me to read between the lines and make that leap。The angst was fantastic and drove my interest in the story and in particular, Catalina。 She was a character that was used to not feeling like she was enough, and yet, too much at the same time。 I enjoyed watching her realization that Thane saw her differently than anyone ever ha This is a quick read and doesn’t allow for the characters to evolve in a realistic way, but it still worked for me because there was a lot of internal dialogue that allowed me to read between the lines and make that leap。The angst was fantastic and drove my interest in the story and in particular, Catalina。 She was a character that was used to not feeling like she was enough, and yet, too much at the same time。 I enjoyed watching her realization that Thane saw her differently than anyone ever had。 Thane is gruff and grumpy, and comes off as completely closed off after the death of his husband five years ago。 He is blinded by his grief, and therefore, inattentive and neglectful towards Catalina at first。 He does come around and admit to his neglect, which was a relief。I can see why some readers felt the romantic arc between two people with emotional walls progressed too quickly。 Perhaps, I fudged the timeline in my head a little to make it work because I really liked the complexity of these characters and the likelihood that they would have a really interesting arc if given the space。CW/TW: Katee lists them at the beginning of the book。 。。。more

This probably would’ve juggled better as a straight romance novel between two non-fictional regular adults。 Because the topic of self-worth and grief are difficult to squeeze into a novel just shy of 200 pages。 And for some reason I just couldn’t picture Thane—no matter how much he was describe。 It was a jumble。 The dragon one was a nice toe dip and left open to improvement but honestly it didn’t come。 Not to mention I remember being promised DP and it was no where to be found yet again。 They bo This probably would’ve juggled better as a straight romance novel between two non-fictional regular adults。 Because the topic of self-worth and grief are difficult to squeeze into a novel just shy of 200 pages。 And for some reason I just couldn’t picture Thane—no matter how much he was describe。 It was a jumble。 The dragon one was a nice toe dip and left open to improvement but honestly it didn’t come。 Not to mention I remember being promised DP and it was no where to be found yet again。 They both feel like relative rough drafts。 No pun intended。 。。。more

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 Ok so the tentacle porn was weird and not my thing —but gotta give it up to katee Robert for consistent and respectful usage of neo-pronouns, so much bisexuality, dealing with trauma and grief in an actually good way and not just respecting a persons wishes not to get pregnant (like in the dragons bride) but actively having the character choose abortion with the primary feeling after being relief and not regretting it at all。 The woman knows her audience wants healing, progressive stuff, but als Ok so the tentacle porn was weird and not my thing —but gotta give it up to katee Robert for consistent and respectful usage of neo-pronouns, so much bisexuality, dealing with trauma and grief in an actually good way and not just respecting a persons wishes not to get pregnant (like in the dragons bride) but actively having the character choose abortion with the primary feeling after being relief and not regretting it at all。 The woman knows her audience wants healing, progressive stuff, but also weird ass tentacle porn and monster fucking in general。 。。。more

I am a big fan of Katee's books but this one didn't live up to expectations。 This and her other new book seem more focused on virtue signaling than building tension, loveable characters, good spice, etc。 I will read the other books in the series and hope for the best。 I am a big fan of Katee's books but this one didn't live up to expectations。 This and her other new book seem more focused on virtue signaling than building tension, loveable characters, good spice, etc。 I will read the other books in the series and hope for the best。 。。。more

DNF, I have too many books on my tbr to waste time on one I don’t like。 Thane was the worst。 Sincerely, so exhausted of men who are the problem and then act positively shocked and appalled at the consequences of their actions。 Example A: Leaving her in a tower alone for a week and being upset that she didn’t get taken care of。 Also, I just hate the dead spouse trope, very sad and the new relationship will never feel like real, intentional love to me。 Catalina was something。 Her past sucked, the DNF, I have too many books on my tbr to waste time on one I don’t like。 Thane was the worst。 Sincerely, so exhausted of men who are the problem and then act positively shocked and appalled at the consequences of their actions。 Example A: Leaving her in a tower alone for a week and being upset that she didn’t get taken care of。 Also, I just hate the dead spouse trope, very sad and the new relationship will never feel like real, intentional love to me。 Catalina was something。 Her past sucked, the trauma she is dealing with due to her mothers abusive tendencies was so heartbreaking。 But, I also can’t understand why she would stay with Thane when Ramanu and Azazel offered her a way out of the contract with the option to just stay at Azazel’s castle for the seven years。I would’ve been jumping into Ramanu’s arms faster than they could finish the sentence。 Ramanu remains the most lovable and chaotic character ever though, which was a delight。And lastly, how many fucking sets of stairs can be forced into a book with less than two hundred pages? It was like an add for StairMaster。 。。。more

The thing I wanted most from this book, was more。 I loved the characters, especially Catalina, who I identified with more than I'd like to admit, but I wish there had just been more book to devote to character development and working through some of the issues that they both face。 I would love a follow up! I love that Katee Roberts is so inclusive and I thought it was so great to have a character in the book with neo pronouns!
